It seems to me that there are online communities all over the place and that people construct relationships of varying types in these online communities. I am taking what i glean from the conversations on varying aspects to construct my knowledge base on technical issues and on pedagogical issues related to the courses that I am responsible for. I have very little experience with social networks on the internet because i have so little time to develop face to face ones, let alone ones based on web 2.0. I am enjoying dipping my feet into this- though reluctant to try face book…

Hi Russ, I am also reluctant to go back into FaceBook. I went in their last year with this course and quickly got myself out of it in the end. Most of us agreed it was too closed and too unacceptable with its terms and conditions for us to want to stay on in there. Once you start there too, it is technically very difficult to delete your account! A bit of a trap. I think I will try to avoid the FB this time round.. but it could be good to try out if you haven’t yet.. simply because so many people do seem to use it.
